In 1985 St. John's was the toast of New York City. They were a team loaded with local talent with a Hall of Fame coach. Chris Mullin, Walter Berry, Bill Wennington, Mark Jackson and Lou Carnesecca carried St. John’s to a No. 1 ranking and the 1985 Final Four. St. John's captured the imagination of a city that's tough to charm.
They were a part of the historic 1985 Final Four that included three teams from the Big East. Georgetown beat St. John's in the national semifinals and then lost to Villanova in the title game. It is still the only time three teams from one conference reached the Final Four.
